Thurs. Dec. 20 Away Marshfield 7:30. I don't mean to take anything away from Marshfield, however, to me the Raiders looked a little flat at times. My guess is that it's very difficult to get amped up for every meet and as they prepare for The Clash, this might have been one that was a little overlooked. With 6 wins, Marshfield does look to have a very nice team. They also have a outstanding freshmen that will be a force over the next few years. Even so, the Raiders did come out on top 42-26. At 103 Torin Boernke scored a TF over Jake Jaborek. At 112 Mike Schumacher continued to impress with a fall over Daniel Barton in 1:12. At 119 Carl Deluca beat Robert Stevenson 21-7. At 125 Ben Westover receive a forfeit. At 130 Coltin Brehm pinned Casey Jero in 4:53. At 135 Jared Jaborek beat Cody Brooks 10-4. At 140 Brad Dolezal defeated Matt Schoff 5-2. Thurs. Jan 10 Home Wausau West 7:30 p.m. Well, even though Raider fans wanted to put it off for a few more years, it had to happen sometime. The Red Raiders went down in defeat to a very talented Wausau West team 36-15. I know that when we look back we'll remember this night as the night that the streak ended just as we remember losing to Milton at Team State. The fact that we'll all remember this loss is truly a credit to all the Red Raider teams over the years. The rest of Wisconsin's wrestling community will remember this as well. The only reason people will remember this night is because of the magnitude of the streak and the impact that the Rapids Wrestling program has had on the the rest of the state. I'm not a coach and I have nothing to do with the team other than this web site and being a huge fan. However, I think I can speak for a lot of Rapids wrestling fans when I say it's time to dig down deep into your tradition, pick yourselves up and start a new streak.

The Red Raiders didn't win all their dual meets today, but to me it looked like they wrestled better than they have all year. In the first round Rapids beat Totino Grace, MN 55-10. In the second round the Raiders knocked off Ellsworth 41-22 and in the final round they came up just short against IL powerhouse and nationally ranked Glenbard North 28-26. Against Glenbard Noth Mike Schumacher beat Joey Gozinski 5-3 in OT. At 112 Carl Deluca beat Jamie Warcynski 8-4. At 119 Coltin Brehm pinned Ray Verela in 3:42. At 125 Tony Ramos defeated Ben Westover 12-5. At 130 Billy Heydok defeated Jared Jaborek 4-2. At 135 Geno Capezio defeated Matt Pierce 22-9. At 140 Danny Manaco scored a TF over Matt Pierce. Sat. Jan. 19 Away DeForest Tournament 10:00 a.m. The Raiders look to be picking up the pace a as we start approaching tournament time. On a very cold day in DeForest they were able to defeat the number 4, number 6 and number 9 ranked teams in the state by a fairly comforable margin. Rapids tallied 245.5 points to outdistance Muskego with 224.5 and Ashwaubenon with 221.5. Mukwagano came in fourth just 1 point behind Ashwaubenon.
