Saturday Feb. 14 Away Regional – Neenah 10:00 am The Red Raiders tore through the competition today and earned spots for 13 wrestlers at next weeks sectional tournament. Patrick Spray, Peyton Einerson, Nathan Fuller, Cody Abel and Beau Thompson were all Regional Champions. By winning the regional, they also earned the right to face Bayport in Pulaski Tuesday night for a chance to get back to the State Team Tournament. That should be a very good dual meet and the Red Raiders could use all the support they can get. Trust me, the travel will be well worth it.

Tuesday Feb. 17 Away Team Sectional – Pulaski 7:00 pm After dismantling the Bayport Pirates 34-22, the Red Raiders are going back to the State Team Tournament. The draw weight was 152. Brock Benitz scored a 23-6 TF over Marshall Jeppeson. At 160 Peyton Einerson scored a major decision over Jack Rathburn 9-0. At 170 Nathan Fuller beat Landis Hanson 9-5. That put the Red Raider up 12-0. At 182 Jake Timm was defeated by Ben Kitslaar 12-2 to get the Pirates on the board. At 195 Cody Abel only needed :31 to put away jake Flisakowski. At 220 Mike Weinfurter was pinned by Alec Ingold in 1:38. At 285 Beau Thompson started another Raider run with a 13-4 major decision over Ryan Van De Walle. At 106 Bryson Einerson beat Harrison Prange 9-4. At 113 Matrix Jisko beat Jarod Maes 4-1 and at 120 Patrick Spray pinned Travis Jahnke in 2:10 to give the Red Raiders a very comfortable 34-10 lead. They are sending 7 wrestlers to the Individual State Tournament next week. 6 of those seven came away as sectional champions. Matrix Jisko qualified as a runer up. Patrick Spray, Brock Benitz, Peyton Einerson, Nathan Fuller, Cody Abel and Beau Thompson all earned the right be called Sectional Champions. For those interested in team scores, the Red Raiders earned top honors there as well. Rapids racked up 168 points to easily out distance Bayport with 136.5 and Pulaski with 121 points.

Thu, Fri, Sat Feb. 26–28 Away Individual State – Madison Kohl Center TBA. Brock Benitz and Beau Thompson were both crowned State Champions tonight. Brock dispatched Derek Dowd from New Richmond 4-3, Zachary Raymond from Baraboo via pin in 1:32, Jason Ipsarides from Cedarburg 3-2 before having little trouble beating Jackson Hemauer from DeForest 6-0 in the finals. Beau beat Brad Biswell from Sussex Hamilton 5-1, Gavin Devine from Franklin 9-2, Richard Heidemann from Elkhorn 6-0 and then beat Hunter Micolichek for the second time in one week. This time it was a nice 5-0 decision. Patrick Spray had a nice tournament too as he placed 4th. Although everybody did win at least one match over the weekend, the rest of the Red Raider Wrestlers did not place. Contratulaitons to all the Raider State Placewinners and State Qualifiers.
