Coach Lewie Benitz
This is Lewie's 42nd year as a coach at LHS. He arrived in Wisconsin Rapids in 1966. Including his one season at Menomonie High School, Lewie's teams have compiled a record of 650-58-2.
Lewie graduated from Boyceville High School in 1962. He then attended UW-Stout and graduated with a degree in Technical Education 1965. Lewie currently lives and teaches (part time) Driver Education in Wisconsin Rapids and will continue to be an integral part of our wrestling program. Lewie and his wife, Joyce, raised their three children. Scott and Shane teach and coach at LHS while Vicki is a stay-at-home mom in Kewaskum, Wisconsin.
Lewie is a member of both the Wisconsin Coaches and National Wrestling Halls of Fame. His teams have won 17 state titles and he has been Regional, State and National Coach of the Year.
In 2005 he was honored as th State Coach of the Year and the national High School Federations Regional National Coach of the year, with Scott. In July of 2007, Lewie became only the second coach in Wisconsin to be inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame.
